Located in the heart of Chinatown at Pearl's Hill Terrace, we are a full-time rope studio offering beginner-friendly classes, social events, workshops, and experiences designed to help people explore tying each other in rope in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment.
Whether you're completely new to rope bondage, returning after a break, or looking to deepen your practice, you'll find opportunities to learn, meet others, and grow at your own pace. No partner or prior experience is required.
Proudly running as an LGBTQIA+, body positive and feminist space, we're building a community where people can feel comfortable being their authentic selves without judgement. We welcome people of all genders and sexualities.

Founded in 2019, That Rope Place began as a concept in our living room and has grown into a full-fledged rope studio in the heart of Singapore.
Our instructors are experienced rope artists who have been tying together for more than 10 years. Known for their friendly nature, and approachable teaching style - you are in good hands learning in our studio.

What Is Shibari?
Shibari, sometimes known as Japanese rope bondage or kinbaku, is the art of using rope to create connection, communication, creativity, and trust between people.
Shibari is the Japanese-inspired art of rope tying. While many people first discover it through beautiful photographs and performances, modern rope practice can be much more than what it looks like from the outside.
For some people, rope is a creative hobby. For others, it is a way to relax, connect with a partner, explore trust and communication, or simply try something new.
There is no single "right" way to enjoy rope, and different people find meaning in it for different reasons.
Originally developed in Japan, Shibari has grown into a worldwide practice that brings together elements of art, movement, mindfulness, connection, and personal exploration. Today, people from all walks of life enjoy rope as a way to learn new skills, meet others, and create meaningful experiences.
At That Rope Place, we focus on helping people learn rope safely and confidently in a welcoming, beginner-friendly environment. Our classes are designed to guide you step by step, covering not only rope techniques but also communication, consent, and safety.
Whether you're looking for a unique couples activity, an alternative date night, a creative new hobby, or a chance to meet like-minded people, our rope studio offers classes and events for all experience levels.
No partner or prior experience is required, and many of our students attend on their own. If you're curious about rope, you're welcome here.
What's Should I Attend As a Beginner?
Everyone starts somewhere when learning rope, and we understand that it can be nerve wracking to attend your first event.
That's why we developed our Absolute Beginner friendly class series called "Fundamentals". You can gradually build up knowledge of different parts of rope in your own time.
Come solo or with friends, meet our friendly staff who can guide you at every step. You don't need experience. You don't need a partner. You don't even need your own rope.
Already Started your Rope Journey?
For those who have already started learning some rope and want to continue learning we have developed a series of classes focusing on taking your skills beyond beginner level called Core Skills.
In these classes we focus on building up technical knowledge and dive deeper into different harnesses to expand your repertoire.
We also have regular Thursday and Sunday Jams where you can practice what you have been learning and build up muscle memory. Look for The Rope Lab
Studio Hire & Collaborations
Looking for a space to host a workshop, photoshoot, photo studio session, gathering, or community event?
When we're not running our own classes and events, our studio is available for private hire. With its tatami flooring, natural textures, and versatile rigging points, the space is suitable for rope practice, photography projects, creative productions, workshops, and small community gatherings.
We're also always open to exploring collaborations with educators, artists, photographers, and community groups.

What is available in the studio?
Suspension Equipment
Our studio is equiped with 17 ceiling points suitable for both single point suspensions and bamboo hardpoints. We usually set up the room with a mix of hardware up to make your life easier.
Our ceiling points were professionally installed and rated up to 500kg
Japandi Styling
Our studio is fully fitted with traditional tatami mats, creating a comfortable Japanese-inspired space for learning, practice, and connection.
Limewashed walls and ceilings surround the room in soft, natural textures, creating a calm and welcoming cocoon away from the bustle of the city.
Quiet Corner, Creative Environment
Our unit is in a quiet corner of arty Pearl's Hill Terrace. Nearby you can find Lavi Tacos and Kult Yard, Deeper Please Tattoo and many other creative neighbours.
Bathroom Facilities
Please note that toilet facilities are located outside the unit. The nearest bathroom is 10m away.
